Whosoever Gospel Mission

Sharing God's Love Since 1892

Meet Chad

“If anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation…” 2 Corinthians 5:17

Chad spent over 30 years chasing success and drowning in addiction. He held high-paying jobs as a beverage manager in casinos and clubs, but despite the money and prestige, he felt empty. Since the age of 14, drugs and alcohol had gripped his life, costing him everything – his family, his home, and eventually, his will to live.

Chad went to FDR Park intending to end it all. But instead, he cried out for help. That cry ultimately led him to the Whosoever Gospel Mission, where he found what he describes as “a glimmer of hope.” He began listening closely in chapel, attending church, and hearing again and again about God’s love, mercy, grace, and forgiveness.

Chad says his “Aha!” moment came at our Afternoon of Celebration that year. Both of Chad’s sons, Jaxon and Hawkin, came with him. During the service, Hawkin – just 12 years old and in a church for the first time – whispered, “Hey dad, I think I believe in Jesus now.” That moment hit Chad like a ton of bricks. After months of hearing the Gospel, he knew it was time to commit his life fully to Christ.

Today, Chad is a new man. Having graduated the New Life Program, he lives in his own apartment and serves as our Hospitality and Food Service Assistant. He’s deeply rooted in church, leads Bible studies and recovery meetings, and regularly encourages the men in our program. He brings others to church, shares his story, and walks alongside those just beginning their journey.

Now, his sons hang out with him often—Hawkin even volunteers at the Mission and asks when he can start working here. Chad is truly a new creation in Christ!
